nz web content writer

Copywriting is about painting a picture. It’s about enriching websites with content to inspire and boost brand awareness. And to do that successfully you need to be a writer who can quickly grasp the relevant details, do the research and then give a distinctive voice to each and every client you write for.

Want to know how much your investment in human-generated, professional content for your website will cost?

The power of the right web content

In the past 15 years or so, I have written web copy and blog posts for travel agencies, technology companies and health food companies. I’ve shaped content with sound SEO strategies for architects and interior designers to mortgage brokers, debt collection agencies and accountants. I’ve helped doctors, physiotherapists, trainers, beauticians and optometrists to exterminators, funeral celebrants and even psychics. I have written webpages for lawyers, marine engineers, landscape designers, apiarists, training providers, b&bs, cafes, business coaches, tour operators, boarding kennels, vets, electricians, painters, plumbers and at least two dozen builders, at last count.

It’s all clear now ….

Clients have constantly been delighted with how I’ve translated their jumbled utterings into clear, compelling website copy and blog posts.

The years of working with such a broad array of clients have given me much insight into how different businesses operate, and I have honed the art of getting information out of clients and adapting to different tones, styles and approaches.

Blogs and web content

My job as a copywriter and web content creator is to gather information, much of it technical, from a variety of sources, and then to write content that works for you, your clients and Google. I can do that because I have a passion for writing, and the skills that come from over 25 years of working as a communicator across a variety of media.

My background as an editor, copywriter, proofreader, Instructional designer and teacher means I can write clearly and concisely. I know how to develop content that will enhance readers’ understanding of your products and services while inspiring and connecting you with the people who matter to you.

Whether you need a new website from scratch, a page or three added to an existing website, or you need blog posts to keep your site current and Google-happy, I write targeted, SEO-friendly web copy. With me on the keys, your website content will be in creative, experienced, and commercially aware hands.

What to expect when working with me

I provide a fairly direct, no-nonsense kind of content writing service. I won’t ask you to spend money on documents you probably won’t use, such as brand strategies and tone of voice guides. That’s not the way I like to roll.

I prefer to get stuck into a thorough briefing process and then get straight to work, writing the copy and content you need for your website.

You can expect clear communication and quick response times from me, and I won’t be backward about asking for clarification if I need it or chasing you up on stuff we need to keep everything on track.

What to expect from your web content

Website copy needs to work for people and for the Google gods. And the more content you have per page, the better.

Your web content needs to tell your story, sell your services and deliver and to do that effectively, a website needs traffic. Your website needs to appear in search results and get clicked. That’s where SEO or search engine optimisation comes in and this is a multi-pronged approach.

Clear brand messaging with effective online sales copy and on-site search engine optimisation has proven to deliver impressive results for clients time and again.

The writing process

  • Everything from the order of the words in your headings, the number of subheadings, the length of sentences, and the use of the passive, to the file names and alt tags for your images can help improve search results and I can help with all of that.
  • Your site needs unique well-crafted metadata on each and every page. Tailored titles and descriptions with relevant keywords tell Google what your website is about and what to include in search results and I can also help with that.
  • When working on web copy, I research to find the best keyword phrases for your brand messaging and business goals. If I’m working with existing copy, I’ll review those you are currently using and identify where the gaps are.
  • I’ll then write copy that reflects you, effectively promotes your products and services and that Google finds almost irresistible. I’ll send this to you as a Word .doc.
  • Your job is to then go through the draft copy with a fine-tooth comb and let me know if anything isn’t right. If you find something you’re not 100% happy with or I have got something a wee bit wrong, you will then highlight the changes and/or make comments using Track Changes. I can then amend the copy based on your feedback.
  • Clients are generally very happy with the first draft, but I always include up to two rounds of revisions, just in case.
  • Once loaded on your site, I will then quality check the meta details and give the copy one final proof.

Your investment guide

Content for your website is an investment that works for you around the clock.

Prices shown here are a guide to give you a rough idea of costs, as every website is different. I’ll provide a fixed-price quote once I know more about your project. You’ll know exactly how much your website content will cost before we get cracking; there’ll be no surprises or unexpected bills.

Payments are split into two: a non-refundable 50% deposit is required when you commit to working with me, and the balance is due before you receive your final content.

Web pages

Web content is priced on a per-page basis when part of a project. I charge $135.00 per page and can work in, around or alongside your site developers. I can even load the copy and find relevant images for you.

  • For each page on your site, I can create 350-550 words of relevant content.
  • Each page of Search Engine Optimised copy will contain a unique focus keyword woven throughout the copy.
  • Pages will include headings, subheadings, title and meta descriptions and clear calls-to-action.
  • I can also include alt tags for images and suggestions for relevant links to other articles or pages on your site.

Blog writing

If you’re not publishing high-quality blogs or case studies written by a real human regularly, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity. An opportunity to build credibility, increase traffic and show the world that you do indeed know your stuff.

I provide a weekly, fortnightly or monthly professional, non-AI blog service. You can give me the topic for the blog post and we can work on the content together or I can look at what potential clients are searching for on Google, what they’re asking on social media and the questions they’re putting to you to find a topic.

For just $155.00, I’ll write you a blog or case study of around 800 words (although they’re usually longer) optimised for search engines using current SEO best practices. I’ll include your images or provide a royalty-free image to complement your content. I can even upload it to your site for you.

Blog services

Have you written a blog but aren’t sure about the grammar and SEO stuff?

For just $75.00 per blog, I can load a post you have crafted, format the article content so it is optimised for search engines, check for spelling and grammar, add meta details, name your images, or include a royalty-free image of our own to complement your article content. All you have to do is send me the article content in a Word doc.

Well, the secret to writing is writing. It’s only a secret to people who don’t want to hear it. Writing is how you be a writer.
