Copywriting process and prices
Website copy work follows several different steps:
Briefing meeting
- This is an opportunity for us to ask each other questions. I’ll aim to get as much information from you as possible about your business, and the goals for your copywriting project. I’ll come armed with questions, but please also prepare information for me. The more you can tell me about you, the better the information I can give the world.
After the briefing, I will confirm the pricing for your work. I will also ask you to supply me with notes that cover some of the areas we discussed in the meeting.
Keyword research
- To ensure your website gets the best possible search engine rankings, we need to undertake some keyword research: find out what search terms people are using when searching in Google.
- Once I have completed the keyword research, I will devise the keyword strategy for your website.
Keyword strategy
- This forms the basis of the SEO website copywriting work. Each web page needs to have a unique focus keyword. I will recommend the primary keyword for each page based on the keyword research. However, we won’t always aim for the popular keywords.
High-trafficked keywords are incredibly competitive and therefore difficult to rank on Google with; it is questionable as to how effective they will be in marketing your site online. Only ranking for relevant, quality keywords will result in the right kind of visitors to your business. - A keyword can be one word or a phrase. Most keywords are three-to-five-word phrases and are often referred to as “long-tail keywords” and long-tail searches often hold the highest conversion rate. As people get more specific in their search, they are probably more ready to buy or pick up the phone. We will look at using long-tail keywords, and where relevant, location-based keywords for your target marketing area.

- Websites with more than 7 pages will be charged proportionally.
Website copywriting
- Once the background keyword research work has been done, the web content writing can begin.
Your website copy will be carefully written to improve your website’s ranking with search engines and persuade website visitors to buy from you. Once you’ve reviewed the copy, please let me know if any changes are required. The easiest way to do this is through “Track Changes” in Word. We can also do the changes over the phone if that is easier for you. - What you’ll receive:
The website copy will be supplied in a Word document. This includes the content for the web pages, as well as the behind-the-scenes metadata:
- Meta title
- Meta description
- Image/photo metadata (if you let me know which images you’ll be using).
Price estimates for website copywriting
For a website with 7 pages: NZ$770.00
Websites with more than 7 pages will be charged proportionally.
I consider one website page to be a maximum of 500 words. For good search engine rankings, each page on your website should have a minimum of 300 words.

Revisions
The prices on this page include up to 2 rounds of revisions (in addition to the first round of copy supplied).
Revisions are to meet your original brief. If your requirements have changed, and the copy changes are a result of this, then any extra work is at an additional cost. I charge $55.00 per hour.
Blog and article writing
So businesses like yours get better search results,. I will write unique, topic-specific blog posts for your website or newsletters. Each article will be researched for appropriate keywords and will come with the relevant metadata.
- Blog Pricing: NZ$155.00 – based on a 300-550 word article.

I appreciate the value of quality copywriting to your business, so I work on a turnaround time of usually less than two weeks.
You will be advised if any requests you make take us over the agreed budget allowance; I realise it’s important for you to manage your marketing investment levels.
